Psychology

Following on from the psychology movies blog post the other day, I thought you would like to know about a project being conducted by Brooke J. Cannon, Ph.D., of Marywood University.

This project is designed to determine perceptions of the accuracy of portrayal of mental illness and its treatment in popular film. Participants are simply asked to vote for the top movie in four specific categories i.e., Best and Worst Portrayal of Mental Illness and Best and Worst Portrayal of Mental Illness Treatment/Professionals.

If you would check out the nominees and cast your vote now, you can do so by clicking Here

Psychology Movies

Psychology

The latest page on the All About Psychology Website explores the different levels at which psychology in the movies has been examined, researched and discussed. Among the topics under review are movie therapy and the accuracy of film representations of psychologists and psychological disorders.

Make sure you watch the video on why we love movies - bet you can't name all the films!

You can visit the psychology movies page by clicking on the following link.

Psychology Experiments

Psychology

Jenna Roberts a research assistant at Liverpool John Moores University (UK) is currently recruiting research participants for an experiment into the psychophysiological effects of mental effort. The study requires right handed male and female volunteers aged between 18-35.

Participants will be expected to complete a memory task on a computer whilst a number of physiological measures are recorded, and to complete several questionnaires designed to measure such things as personality and mood state.

After completing the experiment participants will receive £40 in vouchers to compensate them for any out of pocket expenses.

For more information on this and other experiments requiring research participants, just click on the following link.
